Preparation and Characterization of Natural Dye from Spinacia Oleracea for Different Solvent Effects

Abstract

Natural dye has been extracted from fresh leaves of Spinach (Spinacia oleracea). The prepared dye was extracted by different solvent such as methanol,
ethanol and acetone. The light absorption characteristics of the extracted dye and the dye soaked anode are carried out using UV-Visible spectroscopy. The vibrational modes and chemical composition of prepared dye was analyzed by FT-IR spectrometers. Finally solvent effect of natural component dye was discussed. The flowers are inconspicuous, yellow - green, 3–4 mm in diameter, maturing into a small, hard, dry, lumpy fruit cluster about 5–10 mm across containing several seeds.
